A New Frontier
Innovation is one of the most important parts of Many Point. We believe that our success is our ability to be flexible and change with the changing needs of scouts and scouters that come to camp every season. This year Many Point started a Frontier Outpost, where scouts learn the basics of logging, branding, and building in the Frontier of the 1800’s. Scouts enter a land in the past. William Thompson and Fred Peake are your guides through Frontier, the will give you all the knowledge and tools to begin your adventure. The pictures above show only a part of all you can experiences on the New Frontier.
Campfire Lights
Experiencing a closing campfire is a great ending to a week at Many Point. Laughing with friends, planning skits and getting awards presented. However, there is always a different way to view a campfire so I decided to take timed exposures of the campfire and the events following. The photos above are the best of the campfire.
Fishing
Connor and Sam were fishing near Voyageur beach when Connor started reeling a fish in. The first catch of the day was a good one so Connor wanted to keep at it. Just as soon as Connor cast his line another fish was ready to be caught. Connor reeled the fish in, it was a nice big sunny another great catch for the day. The scouts and adults continued to fish as the sun began to set another sunny day at Many Point Scout Camp. The scouts and adults traded places to see which fishing spot was the best, as well as trading fishing lures, tips and tricks. At the end of the evening the scouts were able to learn valuable fishing skills, while having a blast fishing.
KMPC is “on the air”
KMPC AM1610 is the “on the air” and ready for our broadcasts for the summer. Everyday scouts work together to write and preform their original radio broadcasts. Scouts are challenged with writing a program for their target audience,their fellow scouts and leaders in camp. With some material provided, scouts are introduced to the basics of radio broadcasting. Scouts learn how to prepare news stories, weather reports, camp activities updates and more. The experiences that scouts have in Radio Merit Badge, will help them discover talents they never thought they had. A large part of Radio Merit Badge is communicating with others to produce the radio shows as well as present an entertaining radio show to the audience. Adventure on the Water
It is always fun taking a canoe trip onto Many Point Lake, but when you get to take photos of all the fun scouts are having it sometimes becomes a challenge to get all the shots at once. However, on a busy friday afternoon I was able to catch scouts finishing their kayaking trip, some distance sailors and the scouts on Huck Finn raft. Scouts were excited to be out on the lake on a nice warm day, kayaking and meeting other boaters around the lake. In each activity the scouts could not stop sharing their excitement with me as well as the other scouts participating. Everyday the staff at Many Point provide great outdoor program for scouts to experience the outdoors in new exciting ways.
FUN
Some days I feel like relaxing and just having some good old fashion fun. Scouts were having a blast jumping, swimming and canoeing in Flintlock bay, not worried about anything. The sun was shinning, the water was at a perfect temperature and the scouts were ready to have a good time in the lake. As I paddled my way out to the Huck Finn raft, scouts were anticipating me taking pictures of some sweet jumps off the raft. Sometimes you do not need a book, or lesson plan, you just need a big raft and a lot of water to have some FUN!
Digging for knowledge
The scouts in archeology were on a mission to dig up artifacts for Archeology Merit Badge. The challenge today was they only had thirty minutes to find all the artifacts, log the information and sort the artifacts. The scouts needed to be organized to succeed today. Many scouts started digging with excitement, but others cautioned them on damaging the artifacts, so they worked together to dig out the pit. Two scouts volunteered to sift the dirt once others had dug it out into buckets. Each bucket of dirt would be sifted carefully and anything left would be inspected. ” I found something, its one of our artifacts” a scout shouts in excitement. After the scouts identified the artifact, another scout logs the information down in a log. Soon two, three, four more artifacts are dug out and logged, a successful dig just under the wire.
Prepared

Everyday I get to travel around the lake to see scouts working together, learning new things. There are great pictures but what are scouts actually learning. At Ten Chiefs they were practicing some wilderness first aid, assisting a accident victim from a truck. The scouts worked together to make sure the victim was safe. Each scout was involved in caring and assisting the injured scout. Through real scenarios scouts can practice the correct ways to help others in emergency situations. Scouts learn how to stay calm, work with others, and the correct first aid skills in all types of emergency situations. A scout is prepared, learning new skills to help others at all times. These scouts now are prepared for new challenges outside of camp.
When you are older
When we are younger we learn many lessons, some we take for granted, for others it takes a little time before we realize what we learned. At Many Point lessons are learned through merit badges, troop activities, at campfires, cooking meals, or even while you eating meals. The lessons learned can be working with others, how to cook a meal well, or learning to ask for help. As small as some of these lessons may seem now, scouts will realize when they are older that they were necessary. Even adults learn new lessons at camp, a person never stops learning. The moments that we are with our troops we should be aware that you cannot learn everything at once but you can learn from your experiences now. Take the opportunity to learn something new this week, who knows you may use it when you are older.
More than fun and Games
Family Camp at Many Point is important to everything we do at camp. Providing a place where families can be close to each other, an interact with scouters as well as experience a unique outdoor program. Today I got the chance to visit family camp during open swim time as well as in the evening. Families coming together to enjoy board-games, card games, swimming, and some good old fashion family time. These are the moments the Family Camp staff enjoy to be a part of. Family is big part of Many Point, and we encourage you to look into our Family Camp program. The pictures above are self explanatory please enjoy.
A Helping Hand
Scouts can learn a lot from staff and all the programs available at Many Point, but everyone needs help and support. Adult leaders volunteer their time to help scouts travel to camp, assist with merit badges, support scouts during swimming tests, as well as be the scouts biggest cheerleader. These are no small tasks, scouts and adults interact everyday at camp, but throughout the year as well. This week I have been able to capture some great moments of adults teaching scouts, to swim, helping them with fishing knots as well as just taking the time to listen. Everyone has a teacher, coach or adult leader that inspired them, please thank an adult for all they do.
A evening by the lake
Even during rainy days at Many Point, there is always something to look forward to. The clouds will move and the sun will shine. On tuesday evening I made my way down to main beach to visit with some scouts fishing. The four scouts fishing were casting away and trying hard to catch their prize. As Brad and his fellow scouts were fishing, other scouts were enjoying the sunfish sailboats in buckskin bay. The wind was not powerful but the scouts were enjoying their time on the lake. As the activity at main beach continued, I assisted a scout tying a lure on his fishing line. As the sun set the scouts begin to pack their tackle boxes and put the sail boats away, the sun and clouds created a spectacular site.
Adults play games too
After taking pictures for a living for two years, some would think i would run out of pictures to take. However, every week the scouts and staff create new moments to capture. Toady I met leaders and scouts from Troop 346 as they worked with other leaders playing an ethics game. The helpful discussion between the adults continued to get louder as they begin playing magic turtles. The game consists of plates laid on the ground, they act as magic turtles to help you cross, but the adults get a limited amount of magic turtles. The game gets really interesting from here. This is one example of the how adults can experience camp in whole new ways. Working with other adults or scouts from their troop, there are new stories everyday.

Right on Target
Steven and his fellow scouts were having a blast shooting rifles at Voyageur. Rifle shooting is not just for the scouts but the adult leaders were aiming their skills on the range. As they shot more rounds the scouts showed off their targets to Jeremy the Voyageur range director. Smiles all around the range, while the scouts learn responsibility, and have fun while shooting rifles. As the program came to an end the scouts begin to compare targets with each other and the adults.
The rifle range is a great program area to learn new skills, as well as to learn responsibility as scouts. Scouts and adult leaders can create some special moments at the rifle range, what are some of your memorable moments at the rifle range at Many Point.
Just One Day of Camp
Imagine all you can accomplish in one day, all the places you can travel, everyone you could meet. At camp, scouts experience new activities, meet new friends and learn news things every minute.
Today I got a chance to travel around camp and take pictures of as many active scouts and leaders as possible. My first stop was at an Ethics in Action session at Voyageur, where I met Troop 346 and watched them work together to solve problems. All the scouts in the group were discussing and collaborating together to solve the problems they were assigned. ( I do not want to give too much away – you will have to come to camp to find out more!)
My picture adventure took me around the lake to Family Camp, where the beach was the place to be. Zach F. the Family Camp beach director was excited to show me all that was happing at the beach, Sand castle building, snorkeling, sailing, swimming – no one could get enough of the lake!
Just one day of camp can give scouts and adults the experience of a lifetime.

Campfire to Campfire!!!
There is not just one moment or event that camp is made of. Camp starts when you enter the gates and staff greet you. From there you become a guest of Many Point Scout Camp, and the staff are here to help make your experience at camp memorable. As staff prepare swim qualifications, give swim tests, and the scouts set up camp, the energy of the day builds. Then the sun sets and the staff prepare their campfire skits and songs.
Campfire begins with a huge round of applause, and the week begins. The week begins to move faster and faster with merit badges and activities. Suddenly without warning, it is Friday and time for another campfire.
There is no way to describe in words all that a week of camp can entail. Come to Many Point Scout Camp to experience every moment and every campfire for yourself!!!
At the beach
“What are you doing tonight?” one scout asks another.
“We’re hanging at the beach and going kayaking, because it’s sweet.”
Staff member Matt B. assist scouts coming down to the beach during open program with anything related to boats. “It’s a great day to kayak or canoe, the sun is out and the lake is calm,” Matt says as he let more scouts in the beach. During that night, the kayaking scouts traded boats with canoeurs so it was another busy night on the Many Point beaches.
Open program is scheduled between 7-9 PM in our program sub camps (Buckskin, Ten Chiefs, Voyageur) every week night. During that time, scouts can go to any program area and participate in activities ranging from shotgun, archery, snorkeling, canoeing, and climbing to cooking. There is always something to do or learn during open program.
Welcome to Camp!
Every Sunday during the camping season, scouts arrive at the Many Point Scout Camp Administration Building. Here scouts meet the staff who assist leaders with check in. Scouts are able to play games and burn some energy off from the long drive to camp. Scout also have the opportunity to interact with the Frontier staff who are from an 1800’s logging camp. The characters of William Thompson and Fred Peake, dressed in typical logging garb of the 1800’s, inform scouts about the Frontier program they could participate in at camp.
Because Many Point believes that customer service is very important, first impressions is something we work on everyday. Prepared, presentable, and helpful staff is what you will find when you enter Many Point Scout Camp.
Nothing like a Treehouse!!!
Every child at one time or another time wants a treehouse, a fort, a place just for themselves. Many Point makes this wish come true for scouts who can spend entire afternoons and evenings in a treehouse.
Eating, playing games, transporting equipment between both treehouse(s), and making some cool gadgets (you find out more when you sign up) are some of the activities scouts can participate in while doing the Treehouse program. All this is included with the experience of learning to live greener within nature.
Both tree houses are powered by solar panels for light and other devices. At the end of the night, scouts and staff get to enjoy an incredible sunset and sleep under the star (in the trees). Sign up today for your Treehouse experience.
Campfire!
On Sunday nights, the Many Point staff prepare as scouts gather at their campfires.
The crowd begins to get restless, and the staff jump into action.
“We are going to start this campfire like we start all Many Point campfires,” a staff member yells as he begins to sing the Many Point Rouser! The rest of the staff runs out and joins in the singing of the rouser.
Next is the most popular part: the skits where staff get to demonstrate their acting abilities. Campfires are just one part of the Many Point experience, every moment can be memorable at Many Point Scout Camp.
Polar Bear!
One day every week in the early morning hours, scouts and staff wake up to participate in a tradition like no other. A staff member with great story telling ability, tells the story of Polar Bolarinski and his misadventures, which leads to running into the (refreshing ) lake in the early morning hours. Staff does not jump into the water once but up to three times, just to make sure you’re up. Be sure to participate in your Polar Bear when you come to Many Point this summer!
Opportunity Everywhere
“You have the best job in camp” a scoutmaster says in passing. Every time I hear that it does remind me of how fortunate I’m to work with other dedicated individuals and scouts for summer fun and learning opportunities. I do enjoy my job, but my fellow staff work tirelessly to plan the programs that create these special moments. Today my goal was to visit all the beaches in camp and capture scouts having some summer fun. It was partly cloudy and 81 degrees, so perfect. As I enter Buck beach there where scouts preparing to sail, scouts on the aqua trampoline, kayaking, swimming, and snorkeling. I did not have enough time to capture all the pictures I wanted but the moments I did capture are above for your enjoyment. The following moments are brought to you by the staff, and adult leader volunteers who enjoy scouting and want to share these moments with everyone.
From a Scout
Hunter from Troop 46 was busy creating his notebook for forestry MB while he let me observe the class. We began to talking about the week and all the great activities that are all around camp. Hunter continued to work on his forestry Merit Badge as I walked around and took photos of his hard work. Hunter was intent on finishing his merit badge but could not contain his excitement for the campfire later that evening. Hunter said he was going to play a Hunter in a skit, he could not stop laughing after telling me. After a few minutes I wished Hunter the best and a safe trip home. Interactions like this are the reasons that scouts and staff return to Many Point. Even a few minutes can change a scouts week into a positive life changing event.
